It mainly because easy of life will be come after difficulty and life with no effort can be nothing.

A book usually talks about the effort and struggle in the main character in achieving the goal and solving problem that becomes the obstacle. The main figure has have difficulty because his problem is challenging to solve. For making struggle of peaceful life, the main figure does not constantly fine success. Instead, the primary character often finds difficulties, danger or maybe death.
